About the Artist
Biography
|
Barry John Raybould, M.A. (Cantab) is an English award-winning, professional artist who works primarily in oils. His work is a contemporary fusion of impressionistic and expressionistic styles that integrates color, design and brushwork to convey a strong sense of mood and feeling. Raybould mostly paints plein air, seeking inspiration for his paintings from all around the world.
In the late 90's he was one of the group of Central Coast California artists known as the ‘Informalists’.
He is an artist member of the prestigious California Art Club, one of the oldest professional art organizations in the United States and his work has been exhibited in several museums in the United States and China, including the Pasadena Museum of California Art (PMCA).
For many years he authored a regular column on how to paint for International Artist Magazine, one of the largest and most well well respected art instruction magazines distributed worldwide. He has also taught over 5000 artists via his Virtual Art Academy: a program of structured online lessons on how to paint.
He continues to travel the world, looking for inspiration in unusual places, capturing disappearing cultures and natural and man-made landscapes that are under threat from development. |
